WHAT'S NEW
There's always something new at Dragonfly Hollow. Recently we restyled the stand for the bronze Chinese bell, painted the split-cedar gate, stained the decks, installed new gabion stone seat walls, replanted most of the Thai Spirit House garden, and removed the last bit of mown lawn to install the Blue Meadow. We also added pebble mosaic steps from the bridge to the crop circle, a new water feature to replace the decommissioned pond, a Lutyens bench beneath the copper arbor, red-orange stained wicker seating on the deck. We continue to revamp the garden around the award-winning pebble mosaic. In 2013 we plan to add a fire pit, revise the fence by the patio, repaint the bell stand, and move some more plants around as well as add some new ones. |

In Spring 2010 we removed the last remnant of our mown lawn. In Fall 2010, we planted our blue meadow beginning with
6-1/2 flats of Carex flacca plugs, 400 each bulbs of Allium caeruleum and Camassica leichtlinii.
The photos above shows the Carex with flowering Camassia in June and flowering Allium in July 2011.
Note that the Carex has filled in throughout the one year from little plugs due to the excellent soil prep, great drainage, and plenty of spring rain.
Here's the bigger picture:

our new gavion seat wall creates a u-shaped area in combination with the wood bridge. A new fire pit will be added by 2012. Here's a wall closeup:
