Oak savannah-combination of oaks and grasslands |
Project goals:
-
create 8+ acres of
wildlife habitat, to suit the Oregon Dept. of Fish & Wildlife,
considering 2 land types:
-
surround the Northern
Italian style home with landscaping that suits the house, adds privacy,
and incorporates the owner's favorite plants
-
weave the two disparate
(native habitat and Northern Italian) types of landscaping together
seamlessly

In an ideal world, an ancient olive tree would be planted in the front
courtyard.

Design concepts:
A new
plan:
-
To
date, we have focused on the courtyard layout, the 'forest forum',
berming, the perimeter path, & overall tree layout and ID
plants:
-
The
owner's love of plants and the native wildlife habitat dictates a
diverse collection of plants. Near the house, the list initially
includes Italian cypress, hydrangeas, an olive tree and a dwarf fruit
tree orchard. Oregon garry oaks, native conifers and shrubs, wetland
bulbs and perennials, and native grasses will be planted in the wildlife
habitat area.
