Here's how Seasons Garden Design works with you in the Portland OR Metro Region, Vancouver, WA and Southwest WA:

FREE HALF-HOUR SALES PHONE CALL: We ask the questions to develop your project scope and you provide information (including photos via email). Another option is to meet with Vanessa in her garden so we get a chance to know each other up front.

CONSULTATION: You ask the questions to solve your problems. Minimum 2 hours. Contact us for fees.

FIXED PROJECT DESIGN FEE: For a defined scope of services, we can develop a fixed fee. One-third of the fee is due as a retainer and is separate from a consultation fee, if applicable. Then 1/3 is payable at the concept review meeting and the final third is due upon completion of the master plan or installation plans.

BILLING: We bill according to our letter of agreement or, if hourly, upon completion of the consultation. Payments are always due upon receipt of invoice.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

We wish we were financially psychic, but we are not. Every landscaping project is unique, with its own level of complexity, size and scope. Design fees range accordingly. An average backyard design might be $800, while over an acre can cost at least $3,000. Much depends on the scope desired by a client. Feel free to call and discuss our fees with us. (NOTE: As a design firm, not a construction company, our vested interest is YOU. We will not try to sell you what is left over from a previous project or see how we can increase the cost of construction.) It is common practice for a contractor who provides 'design' to lower the cost of design services only to add that cost to the construction phase. There is no such thing as 'free design'. We are your advocate before and during construction.

There is a rule of thumb that various professional organizations use to establish a budget. Anywhere from 4-15% of the value of your property is their recommended budget for design and installation of a garden. While this might seem high, consider the cost of adding a new room onto your home and the value it adds. Real estate professionals state that you will reap the benefit of this investment when you sell your home. Also consider the size of your property. The budget for a country property could be vastly different from a city lot. We can discuss your garden design and landscaping budget during our initial visit. Bottom line: we work with your budget.
